"Hossu" two Buddhist priest fly swatters made of wood, bamboo and horsehair. The stick is supposed to protect the wearer from desire and also serves as a means of ridding the environment of flies without killing them. One has a removable cap for holding either incense or sutras. Chinese work. Period: 19th century.
