In-8, edition illustrated in etching by Jules Adeline with a frontispiece, 2 cover vignettes, 16 header vignettes and 15 culs-de-lampe.
Limited edition of 500 numbered copies, this one unnumbered, printed especially for Octave Uzanne on Japon paper with an autograph letter from the publisher in place of the justification.
Enriched with an etched portrait of Champfleury by Paillet, dated 1886, intended to illustrate the Quantin edition of the author's Contes Choisis, published in 1889, and two laminated press clippings of a story that "could be a counterpart to Champfleury's Violon de Faiënce".
Bound in orange half-maroquin with corners, richly decorated 5-rib spine, paper endpapers with Japanese motifs in shells, double marbled paper endpapers, signed Bretault. Covers preserved, 4 pages of Conquet catalog at end of volume.
