Design for a wall mirror with console. Pen and black ink, brown and gray wash, on laid paper. 41,2 : 18 cm. Two losses backed upper left, paper slightly yellowed. The sheet, which is not entirely accurate in terms of perspective, shows a combination of a richly decorated wall mirror with a console table in the Italian neoclassical style, which is still typical of the late 18th century. Alternative suggestions are given for the legs as well as for the carved candelabra decorations and the upper end of the mirror. The drawing on the passe-partout was associated with the Palazzo Borghese by an older hand. Although no directly comparable furniture could be found, furniture by Antonio Landucci for the Palazzo is certainly comparable to the present design. D
