First edition of the French translation, illustrated with 78 folding engraved plates, of this important work presenting descriptions of electrical experiments, promulgating Newton's experiments, especially in Optics, and contributing to the popularization of electrical studies.
An Anglican pastor and scientist, John Theophilus Desaguliers (born Jean Théophile Désaguliers in 1683 in La Rochelle and died in 1744 in London) was one of the founders of modern Freemasonry, as well as an ardent defender and propagator of Isaac Newton's scientific, philosophical and political ideas.
