Collection of historical, genealogical and heraldic documents relating to the Khnopff, de Blÿe, Gambier and collateral families. Belgium, Spain, a.o. 17th-19th c. Archives from the residence occupied by the Gambier family in Uccle from 1845 to 1911, which was destroyed in the 1970s. It was located on a street named after Victor Gambier (1832-1911), landowner, local councillor and alderman, an important figure for the commune of Uccle and for Brussels in general. The Khnopff and Gambier families were linked by marriage as early as the 18th century, hence the presence of documents concerning the family of the famous Symbolist painter Fernand Khnopff. Contains a.o.: - 10 mss documents, mostly 17th-century on parchment, in French and Dutch, including: 2 genealogical trees with painted coats of arms, including that of the de Doÿe-de Blÿe families with attestation dated Brux, 1706 and signed "De Grez",- 2 documents relating to the Khnopffs (1621, 1664) with painted coats of arms,- survey with large figurative plan of property belonging to the Gambiers in the communes of Dilbeke and Itterbeke (c. 1820?), etc. - 2 mss collections of more than a hundred documents, originals and period copies, 17th-18th c., in Spanish, some in French, relating to Don Domingo Mendez de la Corredoira (or Corredoyra). Most of the documents were compiled by this "contador" in the 17th c., to justify his titles and rights to his descendants. There is a "J. Khnopff", notary public, who copied and authenticated a number of documents at the end of the 17th century; a will (Brux., 1-7-1750) attached to the register indicates that a descendant Don Mendez de la Corredeyra had married Catherine Khnopff, legatee of this Spanish family. - Large coat of arms and motto of Jean Albert Gambier, "Bruxellensis die 9 julii anno 1737". [18th c.]. Oil on canvas, 75 x 63 cm, mounted on mod. wood panel. (traces of cracks with a few small cracks). J.A. Gambier (†1763) became a lawyer at the Brabant Council on 14-10-1737. - Voluminous set of miscellaneous archives including wills, codicils, marriage deeds, deeds of sale, land and forest management, procedural documents (one entire box); photos of the Gambier family (19th c.).
