A Meissen coffee pot and cover, circa 1735
Painted with a continuous chinoiserie scene depicting, on one side, numerous figures around a table beneath a palm tree playing cards, the reverse with a group in a raised pagoda and with a dragon in flight overhead, below a band of gilt scrollwork below the gilt rim and spout, the cover similarly decorated, the handle embellished with gilding and a flower sprig, 21.7cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, gilt numeral 13. to both, incised z inside footrim of coffee pot (spout regilt, minor flaking to gilt rims) (2)
