Rare octagonal covered sugar pot in Meissen KPF porcelain, circa 1722-23
A rare early Meissen KPF octagonal sugar bowl and cover, circa 1722-23
Painted on each side with a landscape vignette depicting Cupid, within a gilt quatrelobe cartouche with Böttger lustre and edged with iron-red scrollwork, each end painted with three birds in iron-red, the cover with two similar views of Cupid in a landscape, enclosed by an iron-red patterned border and a band of gilt scrollwork, gilt-edged rims, 11cm across, K[önigliche]. P[orzellan] .F[abrik]. in underglaze-blue (faint haircrack to one side) (2)
