Rafael Latorre was a painter and teacher, standing out also as a decorative painter with works such as the mural paintings of the palace of the Counts of Gabia. Widely recognized, Latorre never wanted to leave his hometown, and in 1959 he was named an academician, a year before his death. In 2010 a tribute exhibition was dedicated to him at the Archaeological Museum of Granada, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death. He is currently represented in the Museum of Fine Arts, the Casa de los Tiros and the Royal Chapel, all in Granada, as well as in other public and private collections.
