Due to its size, it quickly became the largest naval establishment in Italy. In this watercolor Consalvo Carelli dedicates himself both to the surrounding landscape - in particular to the erupting Vesuvius which forms the backdrop to the scene - and to the characters who live there, offering us a meticulous and detailed postcard of both nature and the surrounding environment.
