The presence of a shroud, or shroud of Christ, probably copied from the one now in Turin, either during its conservation in Lirey in the Doubs (1418 - 1452), or later in Chambéry around 1520, is attested in Besançon from 1523. It was destroyed during the French Revolution (1794).
