Antonin DAUM (1864-1930). Art nouveau blown and bluish glass basin with lined decoration of seaweed in shades of green, ochre, orange and brown. Signed Daum Nancy France. Extremely rare piece from a private collection in Brussels. The glassmaker's natural bluish translucency and the rough appearance of the multi-layered decoration give the illusion of a real seabed populated by seaweed. A similar design can be found in the form of a bowl preserved at the Musée des Beaux Arts in Nancy since 1983. (Identification of cultural property inventory number 83.1.34) Small defects (firing jumps) are noted in some of the small cylindrical outgrowths that dot the seaweed tissue. Some scratches. Detailed video on request to the study via the QR code in the description. Height: 9.5 cm. Diameter: 34. 5 cm.
