Beautiful 19th-century Russian icon. Inspired by the Palek school, it depicts Christ on the Cross in the center. At the bottom are Mary Cleophas, Mary Magdalene and the Virgin Mary on the left, and Saint John and Saint Longin on the right. The central part of the icon is decorated with Saints on either side. The upper part depicts God the Father in the center, while the corners are decorated with two scenes depicting the Descent from the Cross and the Entombment. Dimensions: 36 x 31 cm. We enclose an excellent descriptive report written by Madame Annette Gottschalk on May 26, 1993.
