Marked with the VENINI Murano Italia stamp under the base. H.17cm Provenance: - Denis Bosselet Collection. - Family circle of the previous owner. Denis Bosselet (1950-1988) A dancer with the Paris Opera, Denis Bosselet, at the dawn of his thirties, developed a passion for the decorative arts of the 1950s, making it his daily business to become one of the pioneers of this market in the early 1980s. At the time, only a handful of people - mainly Mara Cremniter, Alan (Alain Grizot) and, of course, Denis Bosselet - championed what is now recognized as an essential part of our heritage. As a pioneer, Denis Bosselet took a keen interest in and promoted Italian artists, ceramists, glassmakers and designers. In 1984, he organized an exhibition devoted to the work of Carlo Mollino in his rue de Seine gallery; the pieces presented there have all become legendary today. Other exhibitions followed that would have a lasting influence on generations of dealers and collectors. In addition to his talent as a visionary and his great curiosity, Denis Bosselet left a lasting impression on all those who met him at the time; with his kindness and charm, he knew how to win friendships and goodwill. The former dancer was snatched from life at just 38 in 1988.
