Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)
Man with dog (rue Schoelcher). 1915-1930. Etching and scraping. 217 x 278. Bloch 28; Geiser-Baer 39 III B b. A very fine, fresh proof, one of 60 on "Arches" watermarked white vellum, printed with ground tint, signed in red pencil, from the 1947 print run by Lucien Vollard and Marcel Lecomte. Slight lack in the lower left corner of the folio. Good margins [255 x 329]. Total edition of approximately 100 proofs.
"The copper was acquired by Vollard in 1930 and not printed by him. Strictly speaking, the proofs were not "published". They were handled by Marcel Lecomte, who had them signed by Picasso, probably in the late '50s."
