Fermín Aguayo was a pioneer of abstraction, being part of the Grupo Pórtico de Zaragoza. His work begins within the post-cubism to evolve very soon towards abstraction and later, after his departure to Paris in September 1952, towards figurative painting. In 1954 he was hired by Jean-François Jaeger of the Jeanne Bucher gallery as a professional painter with a monthly salary, which gave him great stability in his pictorial work, which evolved towards an essential, intimate and poetic figurativism.
