ÁNGEL MATEO CHARRIS (Cartagena, Murcia, 1962)."The year of the mouse" 1999.Acrylic on canvas.Signed in the lower left corner.Measurements: 97 x 146 cm.Classified as a neo-metaphysical artist, his works show portraits of contemporary American life. In Charris's works there is an important influence of comic strips and Pop Art, giving rise to works of a completely figurative character, characterised by the synthesis of their forms and the use of intense and varied colours.After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts of San Carlos de Valencia, he made his first trip to New York, where he became acquainted with the paintings of Edward Hopper and the artists of the Hudson River School. Throughout his career as a painter, he has held numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including exhibitions at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (2010), ARTIUM (Vitoria, 2010), the Ivam Collection (Valencia, 2011) and the National Library of Madrid (Madrid, 2014), among others in the cities of Beijing and New York. His work can currently be found in the Fundación Argentaria, Fundación Coca-Cola, Bancaixa Collection, Colecció Testimoni La Caixa, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, IVAM, and Artium de Vitoria, among others.
