Title : subject taken from the story of Ulysses and Circe, from Greek mythology (story of the Odyssey told by Zeus, king of the gods).
Circe is a great sorceress, daughter of Helios and Persia' (one of the nymphs of the deep sea), who lives in a palace on the island of Ea, in western Italy.
Sometimes referred to as a witch, she knows how to make potions and transforms her enemies into animals with her magic wand.
Circe ' (right) welcomes Ulysses' companions, seen in the center, and even offers them food and drink. All accept, enter the palace and begin to eat cheese and honey and drink wine. Only Eurylochus is not confident and remains at the door. Ulysses drinks the cup of wine, and Circe touches them with her wand and turns them into pigs.
With the help of the god Hermes, Ulysses is helped, given a herb (Moly) that will protect him from the magician's magic and poisons. And when Circe touches him with her wand, thanks to Hermes' herb, he doesn't change.
