Elephant (Elephantidae spp.) ivory amulet in the form of a circular Chinese coin (sapèque) with a square hole in the center, one side carved with four characters "Tongzhi tonghao", i.e. "Tonzghi era treasure/current money", based on models from the Tongzhi era (1856-1875) of the Qing dynasty, and inscribed on the reverse with two characters "shangren", i.e. "ancestors".
