POLEMICS SURROUNDING THE BEGINNINGS OF THE GRAND ORIENT. Under the guise of documenting a quarrel between Dublin and the Grand Lodge of London, which sought to impose a new Masonic organization, Gouillard, Doctor Regent of the Faculty of Law of Paris, Orator of the former Grande Loge de France, intervenes here in the quarrel between the latter and the Grand Orient created in 1773, concerning in particular the question of the irremovability of the Masters of Lodges: The Grande Loge de France, led by the Vénérables à vie, was opposed to the Grand Orient, which wished to enforce the periodic election of Vénérables.
