THE HOST OF SERAPHIM ▫️ Acrylic on canvas with aluminum frame ▫️ 100 x 200 cm ▫️ 2023, Netherlands ▫️ Black frame included: 105 x 205 cm ▫️ Signed and dated NFC INSPIRED BY MUSIC Dead Can Dance's "The Host Of Seraphim" is a timeless classic, and its use in the film "Baraka" gives it new depth and meaning. The song's ethereal quality and strangeness were an incredible source of inspiration for my painting. It's amazing how music can transport us into different realms and evoke intense emotions. I'm sure the artwork reflects the haunting feeling of the song, creating a captivating experience for those who view it. ABOUT THE ARTIST He was born and raised in the Netherlands in a family of artists. His mother, a qualified stylist, and his father, a poet, gave him plenty of scope to develop his creativity and delve into his artistic soul. It's obvious that this had, and still has, a major influence on his life and career choices. The music One of Rep's greatest passions is music. As a teenager, he used to scour record stores in search of new, original and exceptional music. So it's not surprising that Rep began his career as a DJ. Graphic design Rep, on the lookout for new challenges and opportunities to develop his creativity, became interested in graphic design and, thanks to his training and internships, managed to become a successful graphic designer. With his own award-winning agency, Ringel Design, he has worked mainly for clients in the fashion, beauty and cosmetics sectors. Paintings Always keen to develop his talents, influenced and inspired by music, fashion and design, Rep began creating works of art: large abstract paintings on canvas. His approach to creating paintings is truly his own. The way he applies acrylic paint to canvas is quite unconventional. Each painting is created to the sound of a specific song or piece of music. Rep listens to these pieces of music repeatedly while creating the artwork. He translates all the layers heard in the music onto the canvas. This unique approach brings the works to life and creates a sense of depth, mystery and rhythm. As for the color palette, Rep initially worked mainly with earth tones, as nature is his inspiration. But today, it's not just earth that inspires him, but also other elements such as water, fire and air. Hence his works of art in blues, whites and even orange-reds. He often adds touches of metallic elements and 24k gold. To make his work even more unique, Rep adds a chip to the painting with special information about the artwork, including a certificate of authenticity and ownership in a special wax seal on the canvas. His paintings are named after the piece of music or the musician/composer of the song in question. ARTIST'S STATEMENT Rep Ringel: 'Art driven by music
