L'Enfant qui revient. Original model of the edition by A. Romagnol, 1905. In-4, dark-brown morocco, gilded fillets framing and spine, interior framed with a wide marbled calfskin listel surrounded by two orange morocco listels, mustard morocco lining with mosaic decoration of two vertical bands of three thistles standing out against a red background, brocaded silk endpapers, gilded edges on witnesses, half-maroquin folder, slipcase (Ch. Meunier 1910). Original mock-up of the edition illustrated in color by Louis Malteste, including a title with a portrait of the author, which will be the cover, a pencil drawing of the author, a frontispiece, 45 original gouaches in color, including 4 hors-texte, and an illustrated printer's proof. Each plate occupies the entire page, with a few lines of text included in the illustration. Louis Malteste (1862-1928), writer and painter, was also an engraver, lithographer, poster artist and illustrator. Of his seven books listed by Luc Monod, L'Enfant qui revient is his main contribution to the book. Rich floral lining by Charles Meunier.
