LIMOGES. JOUHAUD Léon (1874-1950). "The Lady with the Blue Vase". Metal-framed plate, enamel on copper, "bétons" process, monogrammed lower right, fire mark L. Jouhaud Limoges 1914 on back. Firing crack
Dim. 14.5 x 11.5cm.
By 1912, Jouhaud had mastered the techniques of enameling, but continued his research into new effects, in this case the "bétons" process applied to some elements of the decoration. The mosaic effect created by irregular fragments of enamel combined with fine sand enabled him to transpose to enamel the touch seen in pointillist and divisionist work.
