SLIP SIGNED BY GENERAL NAPOLEON BONAPARTE "I, the undersigned, acknowledge that Brigadier General Calon, Director of the General Depot for the War on Land and Sea, has had the items listed in the above slip delivered to me, which I am responsible for representing or reinstating if necessary. Done at Solicetto on 30 Germinal An 4. Signature "Bonaparte 22 x 10 cm. Framed under glass with a print of an engraving of Napoleon I. History: This slip is particularly interesting for its early dating, shortly after Bonaparte's appointment as General-in-Chief of the Army of Italy (12 ventôse An IV), the unidentified objects probably being linked to this new assignment. Bonaparte stayed at Salicetto from Germinal 28 to 30. Étienne Nicolas de Calon (1726-1807), geographer and engineer, pursued his military career under the Directoire as head of the map depot, and took part in the Army of the Rhine in 1799.
