"I hasten to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the second of this month, with an expedition in form of the act [of birth] which was drawn up by you M. l'archichancelier [Jean-Jacques Régis Cambacérès] in accordance with the orders of the emperor my brother. Receive... the assurances of my consideration..."
Prince Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, the future Napoléon III, son of Louis Bonaparte and Queen Hortense, was born in Paris on April 20, 1808.
