Cong In partially calcified celadon jade, the stone has a beautiful polish. Dim. 3.7 x 5.1 x 5.1 cm PROVENANCE: Certificate from the gallery "Démons et Merveilles", Michel Jeuillard, Saint-Ouen, acquired in the '90s. NOTE: The Cong tube is a complex-looking object with a cylindrical section inscribed in a square. Most often found in funerary contexts, associated with other jade artefacts (bi discs, axes), it seems to have had a ritual function, which is not precisely known. In the "Rites of the Zhou", it is symbolically associated with the earth, while the bi disk is associated with the sky.
