Klänge is one of Kandinsky's three major publications issued shortly before the First World War.
The artist produced the fifty-six woodcuts for this book between 1907 and 1912. His experiments with printmaking during these formative years were an important path towards the expressive abstraction he was developing in his painting at the time.
