1931 Chevrolet AE Independence Phaeton No reserve Chassis n° R2132855 French registration The AE Independence series was manufactured by Chevrolet in 1931. It replaced the AD Universal series. But production was beginning to decline due to the Great Depression, albeit to a lesser extent than that of competitor Ford, which cut production by 2/3. The main change between the AE and AD was the wheelbase length, which increased by two inches, or 5 cm. Propulsion was still provided by the "Stovebolt Six", which survived until the end of the '80s! Valves were already overhead and the forged crankshaft turned on 3 bearings. The model was sometimes nicknamed "Stovebolt" because of the shape of the bolts used on both the engine and the body. These bolts were mainly used on wood-burning stoves! Original! Our example has been out of service since 2021, and will be returned to service once it has been overhauled. The fuel system and soft-top arches will be overhauled during this work. 1931 Chevrolet AE Independence Phaeton No reserve Chassis no.
