Renaud began his career with éditions Arédit, where he created his first heroine, Miss Pamela Waps, aka "La Guêpe"! In 1975, he decided to embark on a career as a comic strip artist. For the weekly "Spirou", he first drew the "Aymone" series scripted by J.M. Brouyère, then the adventures of "Myrtille, Vidpoche and Cabochard" imagined by Mitteï. In 1980, he produced "Brelan de Dames", a semi-realistic spy series for the newspaper "Tintin". In 1987, wishing to change register and adopt realistic graphics, he created the highly successful "Jessica Blandy" series. In 1991, he launched "Santiag" for Glénat. Renaud is regarded as one of the world's leading realist cartoonists, and has won several awards. In Switzerland, the Jury of the Sierre Festival honored him with a Special Prize (1989). His work has also won awards in France, at the Hyères (1992), Lille (1994) and Maison-Laffite (1996) festivals. With the release of Volume 1 of "Venus H.", a sultry thriller published by Dargaud, 2005 marks a new stage for the best-selling author duo Renaud and Dufaux.
