Fine and original TEHRAN (Persia) carpet, late 19th century
Dimensions: 195 x 135cm.
Technical features: Wool velvet on cotton backing.
An oblong, arabesque ivory counter-field supports a large central ruby and bluish-gray vegetal medallion and its two arrow pendants. The medallion is framed by a curiosity: grapevines covered with bunches of grapes, pecked by birds. Four garnet floral spandrels encircle the steel-blue field with flowery branches. Two pastel floral garlands encircle the midnight-blue main field, with a series of corollas on multicolored plant convolutions. Chess pawn highlights.
