Important violin of the Italian school made by Antonius & Hieronymus Amati, Cremona 1584, with original label. Small model (34.3 mm). Accompanied by certificates from W.E. Hill & Sons, London 1945 and Henry Werro, Bern 1971. Charles Beare confirms the authenticity of the violin mentioned in the two certificates and the original label, with the exception of the top, which was replaced later (in the 1650's) by Nicolo Amati, son of Hieronymus Amati.dendrochronology confirms the provenance of the top wood, which comes from the same tree as that of an early Stradivarius. Musical instruments Experts for the Quartet Instruments: Mr. Roland Baumgartner, expert and honorary member of the Entente Internationale des Maîtres Luthiers et Archetiers d'Art (EILA). Experts for Bows: Mr. Pierre Guillaume, expert at the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office and member of the Entente Maîtres Luthiers et Archetiers d'Art (EILA). The violins, cellos and violas in this catalog were examined by Mr. Roland Baumgartner. The bows have been examined by Mr. Pierre Guillaume. Our experts certify the adequacy of the descriptions with the instruments and bows presented, and will issue a certificate at the buyer's request for all items sold for more than CHF3000. Below this amount, certificates will be invoiced to the buyer for a minimum of CHF800.
