18th c. Italian violin of the Florence school bearing the Carcassi brothers label, 353 mm, with a certificate by Etienne Vatelot of September 1976 and by Charles Enel of 1953, gilded yellow varnish. Head probably by another hand, but from the same period. Dendrochronology was carried out by Peter Ratcliff (England), confirming a wood date of 1746. Musical instruments Experts for the Quartet Instruments: Mr. Roland Baumgartner, expert and honorary member of the Entente Internationale des Maîtres Luthiers et Archetiers d'Art (EILA). Experts for Bows: Mr. Pierre Guillaume, expert at the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office and member of the Entente Maîtres Luthiers et Archetiers d'Art (EILA). The violins, cellos and violas in this catalog were examined by Mr. Roland Baumgartner. The bows have been examined by Mr. Pierre Guillaume. Our experts certify the adequacy of the descriptions with the instruments and bows presented, and will issue a certificate at the buyer's request for all items sold for more than CHF3000. Below this amount, certificates will be invoiced to the buyer for a minimum of CHF800.
