* Rare Delvigne system percussion pistol-rifle, white-polished round barrel with rise and rear sight; 17 mm rifled caliber, 40 cm long; rear lock descends to pistol grip and counterplate; openwork iron trigger guard for rod tip; one-piece walnut stock, forming rifle and carbine stock, pistol grip and short barrel, numbered : 6; ramrod articulated under the barrel by two connecting rods, finished with a ball at the end to keep it integral with the barrel; all parts polished white, unmarked, probably a test gun; overall length 74 cm. (A few small spots of oxidation; small chip at the end of the stock's beak).
Circa 1840/1850. Very good condition.
DELVIGNE Henri Gustave, inventor born in Paris in 1798, in Toulon in 1876. Infantry officer, resigned in 1831; inventor from 1825 to 1874; numerous patents on chambered rifles, rifled weapons, revolver 1873. He exhibited in Paris, 1839 (M A), 1844 (M O), 1849 (M O), 1855 (1st class medal) and London, 1851 (Price medal). 21, rue de Chantre du Roule (1844), 24, rue de Bouloy (1849), 26, rue Saint-Dominique (1862).
