Pocket fan, China, early 19th century
Folded fan, with a telescopic or pocket system, the paper sheet is painted on both sides with palace scenes featuring 50 figures whose garments are in silk relief and whose heads are in ivory.
Once the fan is closed, this ingenious system allows the top of the strands to slide inside the leaf, reducing its size and making it easier to transport.
Finely beaded ivory mount engraved with figures among pavilions and bamboo.
Gilded metal clasp.
