GERMANY. BAVIERE. Reserve non-commissioned officer's helmet of an infantry regiment, leather bombe with gilded brass trim, round visor, plate with the arms of the kingdom adorned with the reserve cross, curved scale chinstrap of the officer type, non-commissioned officer's state and troop Reich cockades, fluted tip on a cloverleaf base of the officers' type, inner cap in fine fawn leather and beige rayon, undrilled holes for the faceplate, but holes for attaching a round tip base, label with the name of a volunteer enlistee (Freiwilliger). BE This troop-style helmet of superior commercial quality is in keeping with Freiwilliger helmets, and has been improved with a fluted officer's spike on a cloverleaf base, probably at the time, judging by the uniformity of the patina on the metal fittings.
