One of the best treatises on gnomonics, under the patronage of Jean-Paul Grandjean de Fouchy, perpetual secretary of the Académie des Sciences, creator of the equation calculating the difference between true time and mean time, enabling the creation of sundials giving true time. A renowned organ builder, the Benedictine François de Bedos de Celles (1709 - 1779) is also the author of a monumental work on the French classical organ.
