Grave chest of drawers in violet wood veneer, decorated with friezes in butterfly wing frames. It opens with four drawers, two of which are in the first row. Gilded bronze trim such as lock escutcheons, wide handles, falls and sabots. Grey breche marble top molded with a corbin. Stamped MM. Michel Mallerot (1675-1753), cited Master in 1740. Stamped M.B EVALD. Maurice Bernard Evald, cited master on October 5, 1775. Paris, Louis XV period. H_85 cm W_128 cm D_65 cm. Restoration. Grey Breche marble associated and repaired. Maurice Bernard EVALD became a fashionable cabinetmaker. His clients included the Duc d'Orléans, the Ducs d'Aumont and de Luynes, the Duchesses de Chaulnes and de Chevreuse, the Viscount de Montmorency-Laval, the Marquise de Bussy, the Countess de Périgord, the Counts de Narbonne, de Maurepas and d'Haussonville. This master mainly made furniture, which he trimmed with copper cast by Leriche, place de la Bastille, and gilded by Jean Lantru, rue du Vieux-Colombier.
