Complete autograph manuscript of this novel, published in 1995 by Albin Michel. 216 pages in-4 in pencil, a few erasures and corrections, additions in the margins, but little indentation, Jean Raspail rewriting relatively little. Most of the verso are typescript passages from the same novel, sometimes numbered and corrected by hand; also included is the originally intended title "L'ombre et la croix", subtitled "Le dossier Benoît 1378-1994. Roman". On the first page of the manuscript is a signed autograph dispatch dated May 23, 2018 to a collector. Together presented in a half black chagrin folder, smooth spine, gold lettering, full black paper case (binding signed Goy et Vilaine).
