Paint Ink and colors on paper, depicting a pair of magpies on a prunus branch. Poem, signed Mei Gu Wu Zhang (玫谷 吳璋) and stamped upper right. Framed under glass. Total dimensions: 125 x 58 cm Provenance : Paul-Emile Naggiar (1883-1961) was a French diplomat stationed in China during his career. He was first deputy French consul in Shanghai in 1912, then French consul in Shanghai from 1915 to 1917, and consul general in 1926. He was appointed French Ambassador to China in 1936, a post he held until 1938. During his stays in China, he had the opportunity to purchase numerous works of art, which were passed down through his family.
