CHINA, DAOGUANG PERIOD (1820-1850)
Pair of porcelain bowls with central medallion decoration in blue underglaze of lingzhi on pierced rocks emerging from foaming waves, surrounded by blossoming flowers and lingzhi branches. The reverse is decorated in four medallions with flowers and lingzhi resting on a yellow sgraffito background adorned with bunches of longevity peaches tied by a swastika above foaming waves.
Underglaze blue Daoguang mark on the base of each.

Provenance
Presumed private collection of Monsieur Auguste Gérard (1852-1922), French ambassador to China (1893-1897) and Japan (1907-1913).
