Christian manuscript in Syriac Black and red ink on paper, embossed leather binding Levant, late 18th - early 19th century. 39.5 x 26.5 x 4.5 cm This manuscript is written in Syriac script, with 29 lines and two columns per page. It ends with a number of ownership marks and annotations in Arabic, mentioning "les canons monastiques de Monseigneur Boutros Noujaim" and the years 1799 and 1854. Paper produced at the end of the 18th century features a watermark with the manufacturer's letters "VG", and a motif of three stars in a crowned shield with crescent*. It also features an early collection number with the date "Dec. 1942". * These watermarks are listed in Mouhammad Kheir Al Zoabi's doctoral thesis, "Le papier en Syrie ottomane à partir du fonds des archives de Damas : une étude historique, analyse, restauration et conservation", under the direction of F.
