Alberto GIACOMETTI (1901-1966) for Jean-Michel FRANK (1893-1941) Egyptian" lamp formerly known as "Tutankhamun" in black-and-white painted plaster Model created in 1933 H: 50.2 cm W: 47.5 cm Provenance: Private collection Paris Commentary: This model, created by Alberto Giacometti in 1933, was edited for decorator Jean-Michel Frank. A vibrant tribute to the alabaster lamp discovered in November 1922 in Tutankhamen's tomb, whose sinuous curves it reproduces, the plaster Egyptian lamp illustrates the sculptor's passion for the art of the Pharaohs. Note: This lamp has been cleaned under the supervision of the Alberto Giacometti Foundation, which specifies that the paint is not original.
