Wucai-enameled white porcelain jug, China, Transition period, 17th century
Egg-shaped, with a high, unglazed neck, the body is decorated in blue underglaze and five-color overglaze enamels with birds and insects fluttering between rocks and flowering trees, against a background of ribbed petals in red overglaze. It has a patinated copper lid with chased decoration of the same motif as the vase.
