Cigarette case in 84 zolotniks silver (875 thousandths), rectangular in shape, rounded at the corners, hinged by a gold pusher set with a green stone, with match compartment fitted with an external scraper and tinder box. On the plain bottom of the main lid, in one corner, is a gold Imperial Russian eagle set in the center with an old-cut diamond, inside in vermeil.

Probably a gift from Tsar Alexander III of Russia.
This Petersburg silversmith, who subcontracted for Nichols & Plincke, seems to have supplied the Imperial Court at the end of the 19th century, as other cigarette cases with imperial emblems are known (notably sale
Dorotheum, June 20, 2016, lot 253).
