KAZAK gallery carpet (Caucasus-Armenia), late 19th century
Dimensions: 340 x 120cm.
Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation.
An abraché and jagged cherry field, with starry gemstones, supports four main hooked lozenge medallions with multicolored checkerboard hearts, linked by five small bluish hooked lozenges. The central decoration is an entomological procession. The frame is composed of three borders, a central salmon one with a series of multicolored plant compositions, flanked by two counter-borders, celadon and navy, with a succession of vegetal botehs. Ribbon highlights. Beautiful ethnographic piece.
