DAGHESTAN (Caucasus) carpet, late 19th century Dimensions: 154 x 121cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation. An ivory field with honeycombed trellis, framed by anthracite chess pieces on a navy background, decorated with small flowers on multicolored stems, supports a navy serrated mihrab with florets, as well as ivory vaults with stylized vegetation. Four borders enclose the whole, two anthracite with florets, one brick with a series of double "S "s and one old gold with stylized brick entomological forms, all in an attractive polychromatic ensemble.
