First edition of this marvelous collection of epigrams about famous people, mainly from the French Revolution onwards, a perfect example of the fine, piquant French wit. Poet and compiler, François-Joseph-Marie Fayolle was the son of a wealthy dentist whose fortune had the whole of Paris screaming (Larousse).
Copy interleaved with blank leaves, several of which are formerly annotated.
