CONSTITUTIONS OF THE THIRTEEN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Philadelphia, Paris, Pierres, Pissot, 1783. In-4, red morocco, triple fillet with corner fleurons, nicely decorated 5-rib spine, interior roulette, gilt edges (Period binding). Sabin, 16118 /// (3f.)-540. First edition of the French translation of the Constitution of the United States by the Duc Louis-Alexandre de La Roche-Guyon et de La Rochefoucauld. A woodcut title vignette with the United States crest depicting an eagle wearing a striped crest under a sky adorned with 13 stars. The work contains the Constitutions of the various Independent States of America, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation between the said States, the Treaties between His Most Christian Majesty, & the United States of America, and the Treaties of Friendship & Commerce between the Netherlands, Sweden and the United States. The work was printed in in-8 format, and a few copies, like ours, were printed in reprinted in-4 format. This one bears a note printed on the verso of the title page, N. B. This copy is printed on Papier-Vélin de la Fabrique de M. Réveillon, à Courtalin, en Brie. A superb copy in contemporary red morocco. A few minor smudges to the morocco, stains to several leaves.
