COUNTER-REVOLUTION. - Set of 3 pieces. 1794-1804. - BONAPARTE (Napoleon). Printed decree. [Paris], de l'imprimerie de J.-R. Lottin, imprimeur de la Préfecture de Police, an XII [1804]. Décret pris le 9 ventôse an XII [29 février 1804] : " Article premier. The concealment of the named GEORGES [CADOUDAL] and of the SIXTY BRIGANDS CURRENTLY HIDDEN IN PARIS, OR ITS SURROUNDINGS, SUDDEN BY ENGLAND TO ATTACK THE LIFE OF THE FIRST CONSUL and the security of the Republic, will be judged and punished as the principal crime. II. Those who, from the date of the present law, knowingly receive, remove or keep one or more of the individuals mentioned in the preceding article, unless they declare it to the police within twenty-four hours, from the moment they receive them, either while the individuals are still living with them, or while they are no longer there, will be considered as receivers. III. Those who, before the publication of the present, have received [THE GENERAL] PICHEGRU, or the other individuals mentioned above, will be obliged to make a declaration to the police within eight days: failing declaration, they will be punished by six years in irons. IV. Those who make the declaration within the aforementioned time limit may not be prosecuted, either for concealment, or even for infringement of police laws [...]" (printed broadside, 51.5 x 42.5 cm). - Autograph letter signed "Charles" to Fleury Rossignol, aide-de-camp to General Louis Lemoine in the Army of Italy. Paris, 6 pluviôse an VIII [January 26, 1800]. " ... Our countries have recently been very threatened by a new civil war with the Chouans and Vendéens; but we are assured that a large part of the insurgent country has been pacified...". (one p. in-4, address on spine, tear to address leaf due to opening without damage to text). - Signed by officers on the board of directors of the 10th battalion of the Orléans formation, with an apostille signed by a commissaire des guerres adjoint au département de la Mayenne. Laval, 29 Floréal Year II [18 May 1794]. "We... certify to whom it may concern that citizen Blaise Couteux, volunteer of the eighth company of the said battalion, was wounded during the retreat from Chateaunay [battle of Chantonnay, in Vendée, where the Republican army was defeated on September 5, 1793 by the royalists] by two shots, one in the side and the other in the arm, that he was taken prisoner at the same time by the rebels..."
