Pantocrator Christ in carved and polychromed wood. Seated on a throne bench, Christ blesses with his right hand and holds a book in his left. His face is oval, with a long, drooping nose, wide-open eyes and a fine, wavy beard framing his chin. He wears a crown, a tunic and a cloak, one side of which falls to his knees, forming beak-shaped folds. Spain, Catalonia, 14th century H. 78.5 cm (worm holes) This sculpture embodies the canons of Gothic art developed in Spanish Catalonia. It should be compared with a Blessing Christ in the Fine Arts Museum, Girona (inv n°200.824) (fig). The very frontal position, the thickly pleated garment and the oval facial features with particularly prominent eyes are very similar to the Christ shown here.
