An Egyptian alabastron of banded alabaster, late period, mid-3rd of the 1st millennium B.C.
Beautifully shaped unguent vessel made of banded translucent alabaster. Elongated vessel with indented, flatly rounded base, the body tapering conically towards the top and indented towards the neck. Cylindrical, short neck, above it a broad, horizontally protruding rim lip. In the upper part of the body two knobs surrounded by an incised triangle. Half of the lip and the neck broken off and professionally replaced. Height 19 cm.
Provenance: South German private collection, taken over from the collection of the grandfather.
